October 2-4 , 2017

Professor Kuku attended the third edition of the AEMASE (African European, Mediterranean Academies for Science Education) Conference/workshop (AEMASE III) October 2-4, 2017 in Paris, France and gave an invited lecture on "Towards more innovations in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education." The aim of AEMASE III was to deliberate on creating CESAME(Centres for Education in Science for Africa, the Mediterranean and Europe" Network. Professor Kuku was a member for the Scientific Committee for AEMASE III.

September 15-18, 2017

Professor Kuku attended the 9th" Olympiad Of The Mind" Sept 14-18 at Chania, Crete, Greece and gave an invited lecture on "Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the age of globalization. The Olympiad of the mind is the intellectual counterpart of the Olympic games for the body and is organized by the S.T.E.P.S. (Science, Technology, Economis, Politics for Society ) Foundation .The theme of the .9th Olympiad is " Learning to live together'--a theme that was addressed from many intellectual and disciplinary perspectives. Professor Kuku is a member of the Board of Directors of the S.T.E.P.S Foundation.

Professor Kuku gave a public lecture at the University of Abuja, Abuja, Nigeria on July 12, 2017 on the topic "Science and Technology in the next 100 years" in the series "Science Nigeria lectures" organized by the Nigerian "Global Science Development Initiative".

July 3-8, 2017

Professor Kuku attended the African Mathematical Union (AMU) Pan-African Congress Of Mathematicans (PACOM) in Rabat Morocco. During the Congress, he gave a plenary Mathematics lecture titled "Representation theory and Higher algebraic K-theory--Illustrations with Algebraic groups" as well as participated in a panel on "The Place of Mathematics in the STI Development of Africa" It is to be recalled that Professor Kuku was President of the AMU for nine years 1986-95 and also a Honorary President of the AMU (for life) since 1995.

June 13-16, 2017

Professor Kuku attended the Commonwealth Science Conference in Singapore June 13-16 organized by Royal Society and the National Research Foundation of Singapore. During the conference, he also attended the meeting of Presidents of Commonwealth Academies on June 15, 2015.

Professor Kuku attended the First Pan-African Project Management conference, in Yaounde, Cameroon, May 24-27, 2017 where he gave a Key-Note Address titled ' Towards Producing a Critical Mass of STI and Project Management Specialists for Socio-Economic Development of Africa" He also chaired some sessions at the conference.

Professor Kuku attended the "2nd African Young Academies Regional conference", October 24-26, 2016 in Mauritius. The theme of the conference is "Empoweringthe next Generation of Scientist inAfrica. During the conference, he delivered an address at the opening Ceremony, chaired the break out session on "African National Young Academies Advancement" and took part in a panel discussion on "Reconnecting Diaspora in Africa".

Professor Kuku attended the TWAS-ROSSA Young Scientists conference and 6th General Assembly of the Nigerian Young Academy(NYA) August 23-24, Lagos Nigeria. During the meeting, he presented to the 2016 winner the "Professor Aderemi Kuku National Young Scientist prize for mathematical Sciences" and also participated in a motivational panel discussion on "Using Scientific Research for the Advancement of Africa".

Professor Kuku attended in Bangkok,Thailand the Workshop for capacity development through South-South and triangular co-operation in Science, Technology and ICT. Professor Kuku discussed the situation in Africaand Nigeria in particular as well as the role of AAS in international STI co-operation.

June 21, 2016

Professor Kuku attended the 10th AAS General Assembly (GA) in Kasane, Botswana, June 20-22, 2016. His Excellency, Lt. Gen. Steretse Khana Ian Khana, the President of Botswana graced the opening ceremony on June 21 with his presence and Professor Kuku, in his capacity as President of AAS, conferred on His Excellency the Honoray Fellowship of AAS. There were a total of seven invited scientific lectures, round table discussions on how to achieve more intra African research collaborations as well as achieve sustainable developmental goals in Africa using Science Academies, universities and Research Institutions. New AAS Fellows and Young AAS Affiliates were also formally inducted. Professor Kuku apart from giving an address at the opening ceremony and inducing His excellency as a Honorary AAS Fellow, also presided over the AAS and GA business meetings.

Professor Kuku attended on May 31 the "Korea-Kenya Science and ICT Seminar in Nairobi Kenya hosted by the National Information Society Agency of South Korea". This seminar was arranged in connection with the visit to Kenya of the President of South Korea. During the Seminar, Professor Kuku, as President of AAS signed an MoU between AAS and STEPI (The Science and Technology Policy Institute of South Korea)

Professor Kuku was the Chief Organizer of a three -week activity--AAS/AMU Symposium on "Current Research trends in the Mathematical sciences and Applicatons (May 17-20) and a pre-symposium School, (May 3-16).The symposium consisted of invited lectures and contributed talks by participants, as well as panel discussions on two topics
1: The future of Mathematical Sciences in Africa---The way forward
2: Mathematical Sciences and the Universities, Research Institutes and Industries partnerships.
Apart from playing several other roles, Professor Kuku gave a colloquim lecture titled "Cohomology of SL_n of arbitrary orders (e.g. non-commutative group-rings) in algebras over number fields" and also gave a course of eight lectures at the pre-symposium School on the topic " Algebra and its ramifications in other areas of mathematics".

Professor Kuku led a delegation of six AAS Fellows to attend the 2nd AAS-KAST(Korean Academy and Science and Technology) in Seoul , South Korea on the theme " Bio-Natursl Resources and their applications. The first AAS-KAST Symposium took place in Nairobi, Kenya in July 2015. The bilateral symposium isan important feature of MoU between AAS and KAST. Each Academy contributs five speakers to the symposium. During the symposium, Professor Kuku gave a talk titled " African Academy of sciences and the promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation in Africa" for the information of the Korean Scientific community.

Professor Kuku attended the Inter Academy Panel (IAP) conference and General Assembly(Feb 29 - March 2, 2016) in Hermanus, South Africa. At the IAP General assembly on March 2, 2016, the African academy of sciences (of which Professor Kuku is President) was elected an executive member of IAP for 2016-2018.

Professor Kuku attended the G-Science Academy meeting Feb 17-19, 2016 in Tokyo Japan organized by the Science council of Japan. The meting deliberated on some global scientific issues that may be presented as recommendations to the forthcoming G7 meeting in Japan.

Professor Kuku has been in Benin Republic, Nov19 - December 20, 2015 as a Distinguished Professor at the IMSP--Institut de Mathematiques et de Sciences Physique , Porto Novo, to help the Institute set up a Ph.D programme in K-theory as well give seminars and intensive post-graduate lectures.

Professor Kuku attended as a resource person the first African Academy of Science (AAS) Pan-African Science Olympiads (PASO) as well as the 24th edition of Pan-African Mathematics Olympiads (PAMO), Nigeria. Professor Kuku had initiated AMU-PAMO in 1986 when he became President of the AMU and the AMU commission on PAMO was created. He was President of AMU for nine years 1986-95. He also initiated the AAS PASO as President of AAS in 2014 when the AAS commission on PASO was created. Professor Kuku gave speeches at the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Olympiads and presented medals and trophies to the winners.(see photographs)

Professor Kuku will attend the NAS(National academy of sciences, USA)/EAS(Ethiopian Academy of Sciences) workshop on "Supporting family and Community Investments in young children globally" taking place at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia July 27-29, 2015. During the workshop, he will chair a Sessionon "Ethiopian Ministry Policy Perspectives" on July 28, 2015.

Professor Kuku attended July 6-7 2015, (as President of AAS), the first Bilateral AAS(African Academy of sciences)/KAST(Korean Academy of Science and Technology ) Symposium titled "Bio-Sciences and Biotechnology for Socio-economic Development" as well as the Bilateral talks hosted by the AAS at the AAS Headquarters in Nairobi. He co-chaired the Symposium and the Bilateral Talks with the President of KAST, Professor Sung H. Park. The symposium and bilateral talks were part of the implementation of an AAS/KAST MoU for closer working relationship between AAS and KAST. The Second Bilateral symposium will take place in Seoul, South Korea, next year, 2016
